Ropivacaine is an amide local anesthetic. It has pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties that are comparable to Bupivacaine. It has lower cardiovascular and CNS toxicity, similar onset times, and similar or slightly longer duration of action. It is an attractive agent for paediatric use due to its safety profile.
