  • Muscle strain (gastrocnemius, soleus, plantaris)
  • Muscle contusion (gastrocnemius)
  • Superficial posterior compartment syndrome
  • Deep posterior compartment syndrome
  • Referred pain (lumbar spine, myofascial structures, superior tibiofibular joint, baker's cyst, knee posterior cruciate ligament, knee posterior capsular sprain)
