Nerve Type
Origin From the lateral cord of the brachial plexus with fibers mainly C5โ€“C7
Course Runs anterior to the axillary artery, pierces the clavipectoral fascia, and enters the deep surface of pectoralis major, often contributing to the ansa pectoralis.
Major Branches Muscular branches to pectoralis major with a communicating branch to the medial pectoral nerve.
Sensory innervation No cutaneous field, providing proprioceptive afferents from pectoralis major.
Motor innervation Pectoralis major, especially the clavicular head, enabling shoulder adduction, flexion, and internal rotation.
