|
Posterior cord of the brachial plexus carrying C5C7 fibers.

Course
|
Emerges in the axilla from the posterior cord, runs inferolaterally on the anterior surface of subscapularis toward the inferior axillary border, and reaches teres major.

Major Branches
|
Muscular branches to teres major and the inferior portion of subscapularis, with occasional small articular twigs to the glenohumeral joint.
|
Sensory innervation
|
No cutaneous field, providing proprioceptive afferents from teres major and lower subscapularis and possible articular fibers to the shoulder.
|
Motor innervation
|
Teres major and the inferior part of subscapularis enabling humeral internal rotation and adduction.
