Medial Pectoral Nerve
Nerve Type Motor nerve
Origin From the medial cord of the brachial plexus carrying C8โ€“T1 fibers.
Course Passes anterior to the axillary artery, enters and often pierces pectoralis minor, then sends multiple perforating branches to the deep surface of pectoralis major via the ansa pectoralis.
Major Branches Muscular branches to pectoralis minor and to the sternocostal portion of pectoralis major.
Sensory innervation No cutaneous field, providing proprioceptive afferents from pectoralis minor and pectoralis major.
Motor innervation Pectoralis minor and the sternocostal fibers of pectoralis major facilitating scapular protraction/depression and strong adduction/internal rotation.
