| Origin | From the medial cord of the brachial plexus carrying C8–T1 fibers. |
| Course | Passes anterior to the axillary artery, enters and often pierces pectoralis minor, then sends multiple perforating branches to the deep surface of pectoralis major via the ansa pectoralis. |
| Major Branches | Muscular branches to pectoralis minor and to the sternocostal portion of pectoralis major. |
| Sensory innervation | No cutaneous field, providing proprioceptive afferents from pectoralis minor and pectoralis major. |
| Motor innervation | Pectoralis minor and the sternocostal fibers of pectoralis major facilitating scapular protraction/depression and strong adduction/internal rotation. |
