Action Opposes (flexion with slight rotation) the CMCJ of little finger, lifting ulnar border of hand into a position where the MCP flexors can oppose the little finger to the thumb.

Manual Muscle Testing

Patient: Sitting or supine

Fixation: Hand stabilised by clinician or resting on table. MC1 is held firmly by clinician

Test: Opposition of MC5 towards MC1

Pressure: Against palmar surface along MC5, into the direction of flattening the palm of the hand. Usually with the thumb.
